Symptoms
- Your VPN app shows “Connected”
- The VPN icon appears in your status bar
- But websites won’t load, apps can’t connect, or everything times out
Common causes and fixes
1. DNS resolution failure
The VPN tunnel is up, but your device can’t resolve domain names.
Fix: Try switching DNS servers in your VPN app settings:
- Hiddify: Settings → DNS → Switch to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8)
- Some apps also support DoH (DNS over HTTPS) which works better on restricted networks
2. Routing loop or conflict
Another VPN or proxy is interfering with SericaVPN’s routing rules.
Fix:
- Disconnect and quit all other VPN apps
- Disable proxy settings in your browser or system settings
- Restart the SericaVPN app and reconnect
3. TUN / TAP driver issue (Windows)
The virtual network adapter isn’t routing traffic properly.
Fix:
- Open Windows Network Connections (
ncpa.cpl) - Look for Hiddify or TAP adapter
- Right-click → Disable, then right-click → Enable
- If that fails, reinstall the app to refresh the driver
4. Firewall or antivirus blocking
Your security software may be blocking the VPN tunnel.
Fix:
- Add your VPN app to your antivirus whitelist
- Check Windows Defender Firewall rules and allow the VPN app through
- On macOS, check System Settings → Network → Firewall
5. Wrong server or protocol
Some server regions or protocols may not work on your current network.
Fix:
- Switch to a different server region (try Singapore, London, or New York)
- Change the transport protocol in app settings (try xHttp instead of gRPC, or vice versa)
- Enable Auto Select mode if your app supports it
If nothing works
- Disconnect the VPN
- Restart your device
- Reopen the VPN app and reconnect
- If still broken, try a different VPN app (e.g., switch from Hiddify to Nekoray)
Still stuck? Contact support with your app, device, and the server region you’re trying to use.
